Where Do You Start?

Just a first draught of a poem-

When you open your heart
Where do you start?

Where is the beginning
Of what story?

Which story came
Before the other,
Or after?

A story
Always has a beginning,
But none of them
Have an end.

Hurting Is Easy!

Why do people
Want to hurt each other?
Why does causing pain
Feel so good
To some?
You think you
Have a reason.
Is your reason
Really enough?
Are you
Becoming the reason?
I am easy.
If you hate me
I will not love you.
If you threaten me
I will not hesitate
In becoming
Who I am not.
Those who kill
Are close to death themselves.

Absent Friends.

Absent Friends.
Don't you hate
Those empty spaces
Where people
Should be?

You know
They are there,
But they cannot
Be seen.

The moment
Is not complete.

Something is,
.......,............
.........Missing.

World Poetry Day 21st March

World Poetry Day 21st March smile emoticon

Where Do All The Words Go?
If you say something to someone and they do not listen-
Where do all the words go?
What happens to words that are never said?
Do they rot somewhere?
Or flourish in a distant meadow
Waiting to be spoken?
What happens when no words can be found at all?
Are they rotting somewhere, too?
Or flourishing,
Waiting for the right conversation?
Or are they just
Not there?
Oh, oh, oh.
What shall I give up?
Speaking,
Or listening?
(Gerry Aldridge)

Oh oh oh.
Devo desistir?
Falar,
Ou ouvir ?

My First Recitals.

I DID IT!! Proof I leapt into the abyss is in the photo- you had to read a poem to get the book. smile emoticon
I read three. Thank you to those who have helped me on my poetry journey :) :) :) smile emoticon
And I heard some wonderful poets reciting their work and Fernando Pessoa´s poems and many other Brazilian and Portuguese poets. My first experience in the poetry world was fantastic- De viva Voz!

Into The Abyss Again.

Tomorrow I walk into
The familiar abyss.
How many times
Have I been there?
Tomorrow I will do something
I am scared to do.
As usual,
I will close my eyes
And step forward
Into the unknown.

Amanhã caminharei
Para o abismo que me é familiar.
Quantas vezes Eu estive lá?

Amanhã irei fazer uma coisa
Que eu tenho medo de fazer.

Como sempre,
Eu vou fechar os meus olhos,
E dar um passo em frente

Rumo ao desconhecido.

The Power of Friendship

New poem inspired by Fernando Pessoa in English smile emoticon
My heart still beats
Thou I fear is cold.
Too many stories
Experienced and told.
Life unfolds
And either gives,
Or takes its toll.
But, it goes on.
I fear not
A damaged heart.
For without it
No life
Would I have seen,
In no stories
Would I have been.
If the sun
Cannot warm
And heal it,
No doubt
Friendship
Shall soothe
And appease it.

My Heart

My Heart.
If the sun
Cannot warm
And heal it,
Friendship
Will mend it.

Teaching Teenagers.

Teaching Teenagers.
I adore looking at
The guilty smiles,
Hung like fake jewels
On their innocent faces.
Butter would not melt
In such fair mouths.
Angels in disguise
Only tell innocent lies.
The restless minds
Of impetuous imps
Brimming with Life,
And burdened with strife.
Are a challenge to reach
And a joy to teach.

The Intangible IT

The intangible IT
Is what you imagine
Beyond mere words.
You have to hear IT,
Rather than letters
Put together,
That cannot do justice
To a feeling.

I am the epitome
of vocabularic seduction.
Capable of inciting
An emotional revolution.
The elusive IT,
I am here to humbly
Deliver it.
