Depths Of Love

Depths Of Love
If love both
Made you smile
And scared you stiff,
Let you snuggle up
And then watch you drown
As you sweat your bed.
Would you
Question any
Part of it?
Or dive right in
Knowing you will never
Be the same again?

Never Apart

Never Apart

We smile and sleep together,
Time and space
Do not intefere,
Whatsoever.

" Sonho" de Ana Beatriz Carvalho

Hello Beatriz, thank you for this wonderful contribution. I hope it will appear in the up and coming poetry day we are organising in Cascais :)
 " Sonho"

Eu queria escrever o verso perfeito
Ser o próprio poema
Senti-lo por inteiro em meu peito.

Ser o sangue que corre
Em cada palavra,
Ser a seiva
E o desgosto,
Uma só lágrima em meu rosto.

Ser a própria rosa
O aroma suave do poeta
A pena que acarinha,
A inspiração,
A profecia divina,
O profeta.

Que descessem anjos do céu
Só para o ouvir
Que harpas dedilhassem salmos
Doces maestros de minh'alma.

Nas igrejas das aldeias
Que os sinos dobrassem Avé-Marias
Mãos unidas em preces benditas
Corações cantando Aleluias infinitas...

Ser a iluminada
A escolhida
A abençoada
A que julga voar mais alto,
A águia real.

E por fim,
Pedindo perdão á poesia,
Ser assim...
Apenas eu,
Tudo o que sou...
Emoção pura e fantasia.

Hó pomba branca!
Que toca,
E beija
Como a inocência de uma criança,
Esta magia que em nós desperta
Toda a benção de ser poeta.

The Carnation Revolution.

The Carnation Revolution.
It is very humbly I dare to write a poem about this day.
When the day came
The Portuguese chose not
To fight fire with fire.
Instead,
They rose above it,
Elevated justice,
Portrayed humanity
In a light
That was even stronger
And much higher.
Flower power
Was the weapon of the hour.
Love was the key
To toppling the throne
Of those who held their grip
On a heart of stone.
The bad were not bad,
The good were good,
And Portugal returned
To the way it should.

True Self

Once you learn how to manipulate words...there are no limits.
It will be the conversations with your innerself that write the memoir and not the book.

O Tejo

O Tejo.
The mysterious Tejo-
When she yawns,
No one knows
If she is going to sleep,
Or waking up.
(Gerry Aldridge 2017)

The Ghosts Of Lisboa.

The Ghosts Of Lisboa.
As ghosts we encircle Lisboa,
Riding high on the salty breath
Of sweet breezes
Whispered from the Tejo.
Bitter sweet the journey we take.
Liberating to the point of imprisonment,
When all that stands between us
Is a point of view.
The only one being,
I love you.
